Case 541

I just brought home a Case 541 gasoline with the Caseomatic trans. The engine was run for a while without the air pipe to the carb so now the engine smokes bad. Is the 541 with the Caseomatic a good enough tractor to invest in rebuilding the engine? The trans seems good but there is apparent migration of ATF into the rear end. It is an old worker so it doesn't look like much but is relatively straight and it's all complete. Any thoughts on bringing it back to good working order for utility use?

I have a 540H with loader & backhoe. I like it. Many of the 530"s have the model & serial tag missing. You got lucky.
