1070 Demonstrator

I have A 1070 Golden Demonstrator that my son may restore. I was wanting to know how the value compared with a Black Knight and a regular 1070. This tractor will be done as an FFA project. I am trying to determine how we will come out if we decide to sell it afterward. Right now we are assuming we will have to go through the powershift. The engine will be rebuilt and everything else put back original as possible. If we don't think we can at least break even he may do one of my 2590's instead. The 2590 I would put back to work. If I can figure out how I will post pictures of his previous projects. They include a VC, DC,351,Allis D-21, Oliver Super 55, Ford 901, and my Dad's 530. Thanks Tony

I redid a Black Knight. Everybody likes them but not everybody wants to write the check for one that you really do right. You'll be money ahead to redo the 2590. In my eyes they are also an eye catcher when redone

Thats what I've been thinking also and I can get alot more use out of the 2590. Since I'm not row cropping anymore it will probably last longer than me. Thanks Tony

You would be the envey of everyone here on the Case forum, but envy doesn't line your wallet. Unless you find a special buyer, you are still looking at a $6-8000 plus/minus tractor when you are done.

Don't know if you have checked into it or not, but on another site, when a FFA member rebuilt a tractor TITAN tire provided new tires for the rebuilt tractor. It may have been discussed on this site also, anyway with a tractor of your size it would be close to $3000 in tires you could get at no cost. There were some criteria to be met, and I don't remember how old the tractor had to be, the 1070 would be alright, not sure about the 2590, but it would be something to look into.

Titan has been really good to these FFA kids. Several of the tractors I listed are wearing tires from this program, including the D-21 and it has duals. They donated all six tires and shipped them too. I would guess thats probably a $4000 value just for one tractor they sponsored,they have sponsored many more all over the country. I hope all you guys that have any interest in the FFA remember that when looking at new tires. As far as I know there is no age cut off for this deal. The tractor has to be a FFA project and you have to fill out a short form when ordering the tires. They also want before and after pictures of the tractor. If any of you have a kid that is doing one of these projects let me know and I'll get you the contact info. Most of the entries in the National FFA tractor restoration contest have these tires on them, Chevron Delo sponsors this contest, google delotrc to see some of them. The rules for the contest are on there also. I can't tell you how to get around in there site, I just go through till I find what I'm looking for. Tony

I didn't think it would be worth much more than that either. It will take at least twice that to do the restoration. We weren't thinking so much about making a profit, just not getting too upside down in it. Before it's over we may do it anyway and just keep it. It sure would make life miserable for some green tractor guys at the tractor pulls. Tony
