David Brown 995 serial

I am going to look at a David Brown 995 to possible buy. I ask the owner for the serial number just so I can possibly find out more about it but I cannot seem to find any serials close to what I was given. I am hoping someone here might be able to help.

here is the serial : 6980519 it is supposed to be a 1969.

hi todd that serial number does'nt sound right the first 995 were from 71 to 76 serial number went from 920001 to 936004, later 995 76 to 1980 11070001 to 11106274, it is stamped on the flat part of the casting that carries the front axle on the same side as the starter motor behind the radiator and just in front of the engine timing cover,it may also on a plate on the toolbox.hope this helps. tom
