VAC rim color

Restoring my 1944 VAC with chicken roost steering, finally found a nice set of 32" wheels, and most I see in the book are black, most I see at shows are silver. Is black correct and was it gloss or flat?

The VA series tractors with the Flambeau red paint color came from the factory with the galvanized rear rims. Paint them the silver or aluminum color and it will match fairly close to original color.

I mentioned black rims on early VA series tractors on this forum once and was told it never happened. Factory photos do not lie but its hard to say if it was gloss or flat black and also when the change to zink coating occurred.

My ORIGINAL wheels that were ORIGINAL to the tractor were black. Wasn't enough left to tell gloss or flat though. Remember, 1942-1944 VAC's were made by CASE but the engines were made by Continental Motors to CASE's specs because they were building airplane engines for the war effort. They also used the VC front end to save tooling time. Yes, they made VAC's in 1942 and yes the VA-124 engines made 1942-1944 were made by Continental and were overhead valve. Last time I posted that a bunch of no nothing jerks jumped on me and told me I was full of it until I posted CASE documents stating otherwise.

I have a VAC with 32 inch rims and they are black. I would have to go look to make sure of the age but maybe 1948. Barry.
