DC-400 muffler question

I am getting to the point where I need a muffler on my rebuild, and in my 1976 CASE dealer parts catalog, it says that DC and 400's are a different muffler. Anybody know why?

don't know whats differen't from Case but Stanley sells the same muffler, I think it is a CA1 for both models, I had one for a dc and it fit on the 400d just fine

A Nelson mfg muffler would do very nicely on any 400. Triple the price, triple the quality. Not sure they will make them any more, besides what is in stock.

The DC that we had was wearing the long muffler that was stock on the 800's because it was a little quieter and it fit as good as the stock one.

I would agree with Don on the better quality of a Nelson.
