Case 1200 value

My neighbor has a 1200 he parked years ago due to engine trouble. What would a guy offer\give for it? It will need other work besides the motor to get it going. Are parts available? Would it be worth taking on as a project?

If memory serves me right, engine is a 451 turbo(1030 engine with turbo), Clark axles and transmission, basically a component tractor. I have seen them sell for $250-$15000, depends on location and condition. Tires are $500 each, engine kit alone is $12-1500 plus machining and other parts. I would start at scrap value and go from there.

Depends what you aim to achieve....If you are looking to make money by restoring it and reselling it, keep dreaming. If you are looking to preserve a piece of Case history it could be well worth while. If you are looking to fix it up to use, you can get a more modern, user-friendly model for less than you will spend restoring it.

if I bought one with the intent to use it and it had a bad engine I wouldn't spend a dime on the original engine, I would drop a 1370 engine in it, probably cheaper than fixing the 451, more dependable power it would start better and enough to do something , most people wouldn't know the difference anyway.
