Case 830 drag link and tie rods

I need a drag link for my 830. I think it is part number A34894. It is 13/16" in diameter and maybe 14 or 16 inches long. I've got a couple that are 3/4" diameter but can't get the clamps to tighten down enough so the link does not slip back and forth a bit.

The dealer has the part...for $200. I'm wondering if anybody knows of a later model or generic part that will fit. Basically, it's just an ordinary simple drag link with a 13/16" diameter. I can cut to length if need be and could even grind the bolt detents in. What I really don't want to do is dump $200 into so basic a part.

Any idea how to solve this problem? Anybody know how to make a 3/4" link fit with shims (tried some aluminum from a beer can and that didn't work so good...too slippery or somthing).

I just bought two old 830 tractors, but I don't have them home yet. I'll see if I have something that will work and post another message back to you.

Thanks - I appreciate it very much. On a later model tractor, a tie-rod is $25. On this one it's $178 plus shipping. I've been scouring the MF, JD, AC and other catalogs to find something close in size. No luck yet, though.
