1370 case hydraulic problems

While discing this spring I came up to the end to turn and to my surprise I had no remote hydraulic pressure and I lost power steering.

That’s when I noticed I had NO hydraulic filter pressure and my transmission pressure was still in the green but slightly fluctuating.

Just before that everything was “OK”

No heat problems
Transmission Hydraulic pressure was strong
Filter pressure was strong (filters only had 60 plus hours on them including new oil)

I was close to the shop so I took it there to get another tractor.

I have since changed the filters and checked the remote hydraulic pressure.

While cold in “Idle” (600 rpm) the filter pressure is in the mid green range but as I speed up the engine the filter pressure drops to “0”

The remote pressure is 2000psi but if I depress the inching pedal the hydraulic pressure is only 1000psi

The tractor seems to shift ok but when I rev up the engine the filter pressure drops so I’m not wanting to push my luck and damage the clutches.

I have not checked the clutch pack pressures yet since I don’t know the testing sequence or pressures.

I don’t have book on this tractor but one is ordered.

Could the problem be the pressure regulator for the filters.

The hydraulic pump on the side was my second suspect but like I said my remote pressure is 2000psi so I don’t think that’s the problem.

Any suggestions?

I recommend you pay a knowledgable Case mechanic to do a flow test on the complete system. The fact that you lose pressure with the clutch in is significant as PS clutch leakage will rob the remotes and a flow test properly done will pinpoint PS clutch leakage. mEl

If a Power shift clutch was leaking would that explain why I lost All filter pressure when I came to the end of the field?

After I let the tractor cool I filter pressure the reading was in the middle of green were as before I always had filter pressure on the high side of green.

With the tractor cold is when I was taking pressure readings from the remote value and noticed that my pressure was cut in half by pressing on the inching peddle.

When the tractor is setting cold on idle I have filter pressure at the half way mark but when I rev the tractor up to 1500 RPMs I loose filter pressure.

Wouldn’t that be more in line with a problem in the kicker pump or a sticking filter regulator?

I’m thinking the reason I had a loose in hydraulic pressure in the remote when I depressed the inching peddle is because of a lack of oil flow.

Does this make sense?

I not saying that I don’t have a leaking PS clutch but I’m thinking I have more than one problem.

If anyone has some ideas or information they would like to share it would be appreciated.
