I am having problems trying to get the shifter in gear. I can press the clutch all the way and it still grinds until I back off the rpms of the motor real low where it almost dies then I can put it in any gear also the hydraulic gauge never goes down to 0psi is it supost to? any ideas
This is a 580ck shuttle with torque converter.
thanks

Are you shifting with the shutle lever in neutral or in Fwd or Rev shuttle? The clutch spool adjustment could be off not dropping the pressure. Measure from the center of the rear bolt of the bracket (the flat iron with a slot in it on the side of the tractor on the valve) that holds the roll pin on the clutch spool to the center of the roll pin, it should be 3.100 inch with the clutch pedal in working position. The clutch cam is on a cam bolt and the measurement can be corrected by lossening the nut on the inside and turning the bolt till the measurement is right. Maybe the clutch pack is warped, but try shifrting when the shutle is in neutral and see if that helps. Post back and let us know how you make out. mEl

Thanks mel you got me in the right place. It did seem to help. I did find the cam bolt and messed with it alittle. But it still grinds. And wants to creep forward and reverse as if there is no neutral on the shuttle shifter.
Im thinking I need to adjust the shuttle some how.
Thanks again I dont think I would have ever found that cam bolt, I bet most guys dont know its even there.
I will prolly have a few million more questions for you.
Thanks Gene
