I am working on a Case 310 B with a front end loader and backhoe and not getting a spark. I want to check points but distributor cover beneath the cap and rotor is stuck and I don't see how it comes apart. Do I just need to drive a wedge (screwdriver?) under the line up tab in the slot of the distributor shaft case? Also confused by various serial number/manufactured years information. Was the 310 B only made in 58 & 59? Thanks, Jim

Those dust covers do stick some times and it does not matter when brand of tractor it is. Take a screw driver handle and gentlely tap on it and it should pop right off BTDT many many times

Thanks, but I'm already past that and ready for a big hammer. Most I've dealt with are plastic and responded as you described. This cover is metal with the outer edge curved up and appears to be pressed down into the base. I want to make sure I don't hurt something if I drive something in the seam trying to pop it up. Thanks again, Jim

Ya the metal ones can be a real pain. You should see a place on it with a tab that you can put a punch on and tap that with a hammer. Also BTDT on those type

Flash, Yes, the 310b was produced in '58 and '59 only. I have one with loader and forklift, and I've replaced the points in it. There should be a spot you can get a pry under the dust cover...

Thanks to all, we put new breaker points in and got her fired up soon after that. Was wondering what one is worth as we have some people asking about it. Other than leaking a lot of hydraulic fluid it is in pretty good shape. Any special promotions like the white Farmalls or Ford Gold Demonstrtors? Thanks, Jim
