Case V Head

Hello! I am not new to tractors but new here since I have started working on my dad's old 1940 Case V series. He bought the tractor back in 1970, when I was just two, for $175 and my mom about killed him! I really don't know much about it since the data plate is missing but my dad said he thought it wasn't very common because of the wide front axle. My problem is it has a cracked head! :( I have done some searching for a replacement and haven't found one yet. Anybody local here in Oklahoma that you guys know of? It needs a water pump, also, but that seems easy enough to find. I just got it running again, after about 15 years of sitting. He was VERY excited to hear it run! Anyway, enough rambling and thanks for any help you can throw my way!

The F series Continental engines are a very popular engine and are easy to find parts for. They were used in several tractors, air compressors and generators.
The V series were built from 1940 to 1942. I have 2 VC's and a V. One tractor from each year... Gene

My dad was saying they used them for irrigation, welders, and other such applications. Did any other brand of tractor use them? They seem like they would be easy to find because of their useage but I didn't even know where to begin looking!

I do have a spare 162 head that I have in reserve, but not anxious to part with it.
The Cockshutt 20 used a 124 engine in the early years then went to the 140 for the rest of the production.
If you want to buy new, you might contact Jerry at Montes equipment in Chicago. You can call him at 1-800-228-2660... Gene

Thanks for the info! I sent them an email. Not sure I can afford new but we will see how much they want. I would fix the one I have but have never brazed or welded cast. I understand it can be done but I guess I'm not experienced enough to try. I'll keep looking!

Well if you don't have any luck with them I have a VAC for parts. I'm in Missouri the lake of the ozarks area. I have 2 of them ones parts and the other may be a runner if I ever find time to play with it

Lake of the Ozarks, huh? My parents have a place up there outside of Laurie. In fact, I think they are headed that way in a few weeks and I have to follow to do some wiring in their shop building. I may try to look you up! I have a guy down here with some tractors laying around his place I was going to check with but it's not likley he has anything. I will definately keep you in mind! Thanks!

Luire is on the north side of the lake and I'm on the south side. About 40 miles apart. You can e-mail me and or go to my web site for my phone number. As of right now I have 34 tractors on my place

I have 2 case VC parts tractors and some continel power units. Should have a good one, send me your part number.and I will see what I have.

OK, I was out today looking for part numbers on the head. This is what I found. Cast into the head there is "11-22" and of course the firing order and some assorted letters that look like foundry marks. Stamped into the head there is "F124" and then "A202". Then stamped on the engine block is "FA124-12081". Any of those numbers help?
