I have a 541 that I just got and had the right front tire break off. Just wondering if anyone can tell me where to get parts for this. From what I can tell I need the whole spindle assembly. Thanks so much

would like to add that this is the tube style front end. looks like I need the spindle and the spindle housing that slides into the tube axle.

I see you found the achilles heel of the small 30 series tractors... We replaced a spindle rather routinely on Dad's 430 diesel when I was at home in the 1970s. The adjustable axle spindles weren't designed heavy enough to support a loader....

The spindle is available <A HREF="http://cgi.ebay.com/CASE-430-530-470-570-TRACTOR-SPINDLE_W0QQitemZ230179984261QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item3597cbd385&_trksid=p3286.m20.l1116">Here</A> or at your local Case/IH Ag equipment or Case construction equipment dealer. I don't know anything about the eBay seller. I've just seen the spindle advertised there for quite some time.

If you also need the "extension" for the front axle (the outer portion of the telescoping front axle the spindle mounts into), then a salvage yard is going to be necessary. You will need to know your serial number to get the right part. There is a serial number break at 8262800. After that number the tractors were equipped with hydrostatic power steering and the front axle was different than the previous serial numbers. You'll also need to know if you have the 44"-64" (early series only), the 48"-72" or the 52"-80" adjustable axle. You didn't mention it, but if you happen to have the low profile LCK model that axle extension is also different. The various part numbers are as follows:

Prior to serial number 8262800:

44"-64" adjustable axle - G13233
48"-72" adjustable axle - G13364
52"-80" adjustable axle - G13202

Serial numbers 8262800 and after:

48"-72" adjustable axle - A40745
48"-72" adjustable axle (LCK Only) - A37111
52"-80" adjustable axle - A40746

I've had great luck working with Dale Canterbury at Iron Mound Farms, Twin Falls ID. (208) 731-6383 [email protected]. The best way to catch Dale is via email.

Another salvage yard that has been helpful is:

Joe,

Thanks so much for all the information. Just so you know I do not have the LCK model and my serial number is 8256354. I guess I have to measure the tube that makes up the axle to find out which one I have? Have a couple of salvage yards close to me that I am going to start with, just found out about these the other day. Amazing what is around you and you dont know until you become part of that world! By the way is there anyway to "upgrade" the front end to handle the loader better?

Everyone,
Also what shop/service manual do you recommend? Also I have a model 60 loader on this 541 and was wondering if it would fit on a case 930? Any info would be appreciated.

Case made a heavy-duty front axle. I suspect is was the same non-adjustable axle used on the construction variants (see pic below). If you are going to use a loader and don't have to worry about row-crop spacing, it might be an option if you could find one at a salvage yard....

Having the tube length, and the number of bolt holes in the tube will be helpful in getting the right part when talking to your salvage man.

I don't know about the 60 loader and a 930. The 60 series loaders were designed for the smaller David Brown tractors and would fit on the 430-570 series. A 70 series loader would fit, but I'm not sure about the 60..... someone else will need to help with that one.

The Case OEM manual is the way to go in my opinion. They are expensive (usually $100-150 on eBay or other sources), but far more comprehensive the the IT Service manuals are good for very basic stuff (tune up specs, etc) but I don't find them very helpful beyond that.
