Does anyone know where I can get a schematic diagram of the wiring for the WD? Mine was modified from a 6 volt system with a magneto/generator to a 12 volt system with an AC Delco alternator. However this tractor has had some modifications done to it. Some of the wiring was dry rotted/cracked which I replaced. The light switch has been broken off and the control for the magneto/generator isn't functional. I was hoping to find some schematic to see where all of the wiring goes so that I can determine what wiring is needed in her current configuration and what isn't. Can anyone help me?

Did you get enough info for this? I just re-did an entire harness for a wd45 from scratch (mice had nested in the control box and eaten all the insulation off the wires). It"s simple enough to do, once you understand that there really isn"t anything to the electrical system whatsoever. I was making it harder than it needed to be, as usual....

If you need more info or a scribbled wiring diagram that will get you going pretty quickly, let me know.

I prefer to build my own harnesses. I can build a much better one than any store bought deal. If you have a 12V Conv on your tractor the wiring is virtually the same. Doesn't matter if your talking a 8N , Farmall or a WD. Here is a link to the correct wiring diagram for a 12V conversion tractor. Need more info? Email me

Thanks to both of you who replied. I fully intended to create a new wiring harness but with 4-6 wires removed/cut/rotted I wondered where all the connections went.

Thanks again!

The lights and magneto have no controls in common. The only control for the mag is a swith to ground the mag out to kill the engine. The light switch did control the charge rate of the generator. Allis did not equipment these thractor with a voltage regulator. Since your tractor has been converted to an Alternator with a built in regulator you have nothing to control as far as the charge of the battery goes. The only control you need is a switch fo the light if your tractor is so equipment and a switch to ground the mag to kill the engine. The only factor wiring diagram will show the old generator/cut-out relay will only confuse the issue. The wiring of an alternator on this and other equipment no so equipped from the factory is always a custom deal. I have done this so many time I do not have to realy think about it I just do it. I got the basics from looking at the trouble shooting wiring diagram a Chiltons auto repair manuel showed when trouble shooting a no charge problem on a GM vehicle equipped with the Delco internal regulated alternator.
