Thanks for the response. You were all wrong!!!! Pulled the head and found a broken valve embeded in a piston!!! Now am debating whether to go all the way with new sleeves and all, total parts close to $600. Sleeves only show slight wear, can hardly feel the ridge.

Where can I find a steering wheel?

Before you go spending $600 for an overhaul kit, visit your nearest AGCO -Allis dealer and ask for their price. A kit for a D-17 (a much newer model but with a similar engine) runs about $450. This kit includes pistons, sleeves, rings, pins, complete engine gasket set, main and rod bearings. No one comes close to that price. It truly is a great value..and I'd be willing to bet a kit for a WC is similarly priced. To find your nearest AGCO-Allis dealer, go to www.agcocorp.com and use their find dealer function.

It's always nice to be proven wrong, when you expect the worst!
