I know that there are some years seperating the two, but why is the 7080 only selling for the $4000--$6000 range and the similarily equipped 8070 bringing $20,000? Is there some internal difference that I don't know about ? Thanks to all.
Jack

8070 was derated about 10 hp from the 7080 rating.
RPMs were also reduced due to some serious bottom end problems in the 7080. 8070 also has different connecting rods--drilled to deliver oil to pin and underside of piston.

Good question: It's jusy nobody wants the 7000 series tractors. They aren't a bad machine for the price, but the 7040-7080 are a little harsh on fuel. The 7000 7010 and 7020 are really good on fuel. Most start hard when the sun goes down or when it's below 45 degrees. Other than that the drivetrains are alike. The biggest difference I know of is the 8030-8070 went to a Bosch injector pump and the 7040-7080 had a Stanadyne pump.
