This C is parked barely off the street next to a big empty industrial building in the next town. What can you tell me from these pictures made from a car window? I see a replacement seat, battery box wo/ lid, toolbox door, long pitman arm, drawbar and some kind of mule drive/ mower mount. You probably can't see but there's a glass jar over the muffler. Is this a late model C? The 42 C I had decades ago had a short pitman arm. Anything else of note? Thanks.

Oh, there's no for sale sign...

I can tell you the hood isn't bolted on, the seat isn't OEM, and at one point in it's life it had a hand lift belly mower on it. After that, it's a slightly later one with the longer front steer arm. Not much more to say that I can see.

Also the Woods mower can not be far away seeing the mounting tube and brackets under the final drives. Nice looking tractor.

You guys looked closer than I did. I didn't notice the long white lever, the notched quadrant and chains until you pointed it out.
Thanks!

What about the bar behind the front wheels?

That strap might be on there for a practical purpose. When using ethanol gas in a D10 on a very hot day I'd have to remove the hood to keep the hot air off the engine from vaporizing the
gas to keep it running right.

I'd guess that lever is a manual lift for the mower. It looks to be an off white, the same as the Woods brackets are.

The short arm steering was deleted early
in the production period. I used to know
when but it has left me. Same with foot
brakes. A lot of the early short arm
steering/hand brake tractors were
upgraded to the later parts. Model Cs
have gotten pretty cheap around tbese
parts even nice ones. Hard to justify
putting much into a neglected tractor
unless it is real cheap.

The mowing height is set with the pins and brackets at the rear. The lever on the arm is replaced with a cam like plate the hydraulic cylinder is attached to. I have two tractors with that set up but don't have a picture at hand.

I don't see the braces that go up from the drawbar to the fender angle irons or to an angle iron that goes between the back of the fenders.

I think those braces were only used with the ASAE hitch extension. Thats what the parts book seems to indicate.

I drove past the tractor today for the first time since I first saw it about 3 weeks ago. The mower lift lever and mounting frame are gone now. Doesn't look as if it has moved an inch. Still no one around to ask about it. Oh, well...

Just to bring some closure, I finally contacted the owner and he doesn't want to sell it. Can't blame him. He did say he would "take a couple of grand for it".
