D 17 Final Drive Bearing

I heard a growling noise from a final drive and the bearings were loose. The inner bearing is good enough yet. I should check outer bearing but that snap ring next to the bull gear does not look easy to get back on.What does that pin do that's in the washer next to the inner bearing? Is it just a small roll pin? It's half gone.I guess I'll call AGCO about getting new bearing shims too.

I may be totally wrong here, I have never taken my D17 Finals apart yet. That looks like the sprocket drive bushing that would go in place of the dust cover when you have a ground speed driven implement. If so, that pin is supposed to be connected to a sprocket that fits outboard of it to keep the sprocket from slipping. It looks identical to the one I pulled off the D10 a couple of days ago. Was there no dust cover on that final? If so, that part would normally be replaced with a large washer for the bolt to go through.

I just reread your post and realized that what I'm looking at is the "washer" I mentioned so my comments probably don't apply.

Got everything from AGCO. Shims were about a dollar a piece, washer $17 and that's a small roll pin, .84 cents.
