I have a new intake/exhaust manifold gasket set for my D17. Each metal gasket has two fiber gaskets with it.Do I have to use both fiber gaskets or just one?

Just one. I don't know why they would have provided so many ?? Torque the nuts to 40 ft lbs spec and then every morning when COLD, re-torque them until they quit moving.

What Dr said. I just did this on my D17. New set came with 2 each of the fiber. I only used one. Not a bad job, but if they want to, those gasket/ring combinations can test your patience trying to keep them in place while sliding the manifold in.

AaronSEIA[/quote] stick them fast with a very thin coat of refractory (furnace) cement.[/color:86dc7c0684]

I just stick them on the manifold with "Hi-Temp" gasket maker..

I would think some graphite on the metal cups would let them slip more easily as the manifold heats and cools.
