Value?

There's an estate auction coming up in ten days, two miles from my house, with a 1963 D19 gas burner with a narrow front end. I own a D19 diesel with a wide front.

The fellow who owned it died several years ago, and I'm sure none of the tractors on the auction have run since at least before he died. This tractor, and several others, are being sold "As Is", meaning they might run and they might not. I have no idea if this one will run, or if it will need some work. I would guess carb cleaning, at a minimum. When the guy was living, he hired a retired friend of mine to haul grain with two gravity wagons behind this tractor, so I'm assuming it's solid, beyond not running for a while. Anyway, I'm wondering what would be a fair price for this thing. There weren't that many D19's made with a narrow front, so I'm wondering is that would help or hurt the price. I'm thinking not over a couple thousand, if that, for it. Does anyone have any opinions?

The guy that owned this stuff had plenty of money, but he never spent much of it. He lived in a beat up trailer hid in some trees when he could have easily afforded a nice house. I suspect there won't be any big spenders on this auction.

Come to think of it, my late sister and his late sister were best buds in high school.

Been a while since I have seen a D-19 of any kind sell but the gas burners were getting real cheap last I knew even if in good shape. I watched several sell a few years ago for less than $2000 that ran and looked decent. Narrow front D series tractors surged as collectables a few years ago and people were willing to pay big bucks for the D-19 pedestal which is longer than a D-17 type and the weight that goes behind the grill. Seen the pair advertised for $750 and they didnt last very long. I sold my restored D-19 gas narrow front about 5 years ago for $6,000. Fenders are valuable if in any kind of shape as are the lights. Also the distributors are tough to find in good shape. I wouldn't let it go real cheap if it were me

I have a D19 gas and think its a great tractor the only real negative these days is an overhaul kit is about impossible to find and if you do it'll cost more than another D19.Of course if it
runs good you may never have to worry about engine work anyway.I saw one sold last year for $2100,I had bid $2000.
