wd hydraulic pump

Just bought a wd and some of the maintenance has been a little lacking. The hydraulic pump will not lift the rear arms. I pulled the plug on the system and drained the oil. I then filled it with new oil started the tractor and still have no hydraulics. The system was working last fall when I had the back blade on but now nothing. Is there any way it could be airlocked or am I going to have to take the pump off and have a closer look. Previous owner said when it did not work all he had to do was add some oil. What do I do next? Bud

Look the pump area over real good. There is a thumb wheel that is a load lock and if it has closed it will cause that problem

Get the operator manual to learn how to set the pump- there are 4 settings involved, depending what you want to do. You may find the hyd pump control settings on the internet by googling WD Allis-Chalmers hydraulic pump settings.

Thanks for the responses. I have the manual and did what it said to do. I have moved the thumb screws in and out, locked in the body and not, and nothing I do makes any difference. There is one thing that bugs me and that is there is no tension or very little pressure required ( enough to over come gravity) to move the long rod in the "pump" position. To move it to down position it is spring loaded. Makes me wonder if the roll pin on the inside of the pump has broke so even if the rod is moved the internal valves are not moving. Bud

I bought one with bad hydraulics and it turned out all the rollers on the pump that follow the cams on the driveshaft were totally gone. Found a good used pump at a local salvage place.
