Allis c ca sickle mower questions

Guys: on the side mount sickle or under slung belly mower (sickle). Were there two different types for the c and ca. It seems the ca was longer and implements did not inter change. I was told this was the case on the cultivators. I just find it hard to believe that they would produce all new implements from the c to ca.

The B-C mower could not be used on the CA, so the No. 5 mower was sold for a CA and could be adapted to a B or C. The No. 5 mower was powered by double v-belt pulleys of smaller diameter than was used on the B-C mower.

(quoted from post at 16:47:31 04/13/18) Other than the pulleys what was the big difference?

The angle irons on the front that bolt it to the tractor are curved forward for the CA.

I would think if you put a C drawbar on the CA and removed the snap coupler you could get it to work. The final drives have a slant that mean brackets would have to be made at the drawbar so the pulleys would line up. Not sure it would be worth the trouble. 20 years ago it would be something I would do because someone said it wouldn't work.

The #5 is pretty much a new and improved version of the B&C mower. Quite a few of the mechanical parts including most of the drag bar assembly are even the same.
The #5 was designed to fit the new CA tractor when it was introduced. The frame is somewhat different including (as was stated) the forward stance of the front mounting brackets.
It could be had from the factory with all the mounting hardware to fit either the B or C.
If I owned a CA and I had a good B&C mower, you can bet, like Dick, I would make up the necessary brackets to make the mower fit the CA.
