Silver on lugs and eccentric nuts

I've been studying every old picture I can find of the 57-58 D14 (original non-barred grill) since I'm about to mount up the rear wheels. I've always thought the lug bolts and nuts that hold the eccentric bodies on, were orange or cream depending on model and year. It really appears from every original picture I've found, that the first two years were silver/aluminum (perhaps the D17 in it's first year too). I'd never thought of it until I saw one restored that way and at first thought "Wrong". Now I'm thinking they might have been right. The only photos that don't show that, were the prototypes.

Though both my D14s were in original colors when I got them, the lugs and eccentrics were badly rusted, so I wouldn't have known.

Anyone have a recollection of seeing these early years with silver on the lugs and eccentric nuts? Talking about the rears only and only the 57 and 58.

From the pictures in Norm Swinford's book it looks like some have unpainted lug bolts and eccentric mounting nuts.
In the book "Original ALLIS-CHALMERS 1933-1957" by Guy Fay and Andy Kraushaar, it states:
"Nuts and bolts on wheels and rims were probably hand-painted to match on earlier tractors. However, in November 1950, it was noted that CA tractors were now receiving cadmium-plated hardware to avoid hand painting."
Not a definitive answer but it seems logical to assume that A-C might continue that practice.

I appreciate the response Brian. Counting Wendel's book, that's three sources that somewhat verify it. Coatings would be too expensive so I will just do them in aluminum and clear. Surprising how well that approximates a galvanized look. Getting a Cadmium look would be a little tougher.

It appears they must have stopped the practice in 59 as all the later photos appear to have base coat colored lugs and nuts.

There was also a promo video, I think it might have been "modern power for profit" or a "a family affair" that showed the silver coated fasteners. It's interesting to hear about the CA too, since I have a CA I'm going to be getting to someday.
