7060 engine swap

I got a 7060 with a 3500 series engine. I got an engine off an L combine to replace the warn out 3500 but it turned out to be a 2900 series. Will those two engines bolt up on the same pattern? I realize I may have to change some stuff up front to make it work and maybe even modify the exhaust but all of that is doable if it just bolts up. I really don't have any way to measure the bolt pattern without splitting the tractor and if I do that and it don't fit, I am down a lot longer so I sure hope someone can tell me, thanks a million!

You have a 426 cube in the tractor. The combine is a 301. Rebuild you motor or find a 426 motor. I personally like rebuilding what I have because I know what was done to it and it will last.

I agree but I have this engine and looking at the kit prices $1500 is as cheap as I see and I would still have to buy a rear seal and cam shaft.

I'd sure hate to go from the 426 cubes and 170 horse down to the 301 and 120 (at best). The 301 is a great engine, but it is no match for a 426. Find an engine out of a Gleaner N series, or 8000 series. Sell the 301 and be happy.

If it is dollars you are concerned about, still would be ahead going with the 670, or 426 engine. You will be dealing with different fan and shroud, rear plate, wiring, air conditioner mounts, etc.

Parts that will NOT interchange between the two different engines: flywheel/torque limiter parts, engine backplate, front mount plate, etc, etc. If the 302 engine came from a 7010-7020-8010 tractor, you'd have a much better chance.

I am not an Allis guy, but you are going to be disappointed with the reduced power, and you are going to have a lot of money tied up in making this "retrofit" work out for you. I certainly wouldn't go through this much hassle to have a lower horsepower tractor in the end.

Try R.F. Engine 800-828-6943, they had some 426 (3500 and 670)and you may be able to do some kind of partial swap. Their phone system is not so great, when it picks up press 238 for Matt's extension best guy there.

Keep looking a lot of 426 L2 out there and
also M3 and L3. But i thought i had found a
good one, it had a spun main bearing.
Pulled another one it had a broken main
cap. It has taken 3 to make a good one.
Ended up using a block with a hole in it
where a rod bolt broke and pushed cam threw
block.
