Lead additive

Lead additive is just a snake oil made to rob you of your $$ does not even have any lead in it and is not needed in these old tractors. I have never used the stuff and never had any engine problem due to the new lead free gas

I had heard it was to keep the unleaded from sucking the moisture out of the rubber valve-stem seals.

Then again as mediocre as fuel was when these motors were designed & manufactured 87 octane unleaded would probably be an upgrade.

Don't use ethanol. Straight gas.
 
The ethanol blind gas is just fine in these old tractors. Few rubber parts in the fuel system and the ones that are there like the rubber tipped float needle are made to be used with the alcohol blend gas
 

If you like... remove the head and have Hard valve seats and stellite valves installed.

Then you will never need to add anything...as Old said, no-Lead gas will not cause anything near "Damage" in your old tractor..even if you work it like a Dog..!
 

I ran a 1966 105 Deere gas combine with a 4020 engine for 19 years, most of those years with no lead ethanol gasoline. I assume it did not have hard seats. That engine worked its little heart out during most of the hours I ran it but I did not have valve problems. Pretty good testament to how well no lead gas works in an older engine.
