AC 185 muffler

nothin fancy

Does anyone know where I can find an original style muffler for a 185? The original has a 2 1/4 dia offset outlet pipe. All the replacements I have found are a 2" dia centered outlet. Do they still exist?

You mite try an AGCO dealer. All the aftermarket that I can find are centered and inlet is 2 3/8" and out let is 2" for a 185.

The outlet is 2 3/8. Sorry for the misinformation. Rain cap was marked 2 1/4 so I got lazy and didn't double check earlier.

Thanks for checking. I will give that a shot.

I checked with an agco dealer and they did some digging and were able to find some new old stock and got me one.

Almost 50 years ago, I installed a 185 muffler on my Dad's D-17 series 4. I had to make an inlet adapter pipe on the manifold, but the body of the muffler is identical in size. I always thought the tractor ran better and the exhaust was higher in the air, so it wasn't any noisier sitting in the seat. Dad never did say how much it cost......I just "charged" it to his account at the local AC dealership.
