Old WC's and WD

Yesterday I saw what the owner said was a '35 Model WC. It had electric start. Could it have originally come from the factory with a starter in '35? He had a later styled WC too and a WD,'48 I think he said. All were in their work clothes. None were running but doidn't look like it would take a whole lot to get them going.

Electric came out in late 38 with the styled ones. Easy to change the bellhousing and flywheel to put it on any of the older ones.

My Dad's unstyled WC. don't know the year of the tractor, but the picture is from 1953.

2nd try to answer this post, the WC in the picture is at least a '35 with the stanchions for the rear of the gas tank being more narrow at the top than at the bottom, also that hood without the streamlining attempt in the front corner predates a '36.
Those beautiful spoked front wheels (what I would give for those) are at least from '34 or '35, the cutoffs on the rear could be from anytime. Just my unqualified .02 cents worth.
Thanks, Harry

Just came back to this post to see if there were anymore comments, and noticed that manifold. It is nothing like anything I have ever seen on a WC, could this be one of the very early models with the flat head engine? There is also a ghost muffler straight up through the hood in the picture. Aaron do you have any comments on this ?

If memory serves, the Waukesha WC had the mag and manifold flipped from the rest. If the picture was taken in the 50's that is 20 years after the tractor was made and well into the styled WC and WD era. Anything aftermarket is possible, even at that time.

Have spoke wheels on parts tractor. Rims are wider having been replaced but spokes are good. let me know

Guess I don't get around much, never seen a manifold just like that one until I looked at Steiner's, they have it listed, still wonder what years WD had these.

Apparently there were several different manifolds for the WD. I never saw one in real life with that long throat but did find that Steiners do have a repop for it.

After some searching I did find a WD manifold with that long throat, a repop at Steiners. Don't know why I never saw one in real life.
