I have 6 of these tractors and one breaks the nose cone...no idea why. It had a new engine in it when I bought it, but the starter solenoid would kick out constantly before starting. I pulled the starter and the nose cone fell out. Put in another starter and it started doing the same thing, so I think it broke again. It still starts, just kicks out a lot....been that way for 3 years now. I am afraid to put another starter in it....so I would like to know also as it is my main tractor.

Check timing - I had a E combine, did the same thing. Dealer timed it on the wrong flywheel mark.

Check ALL the ring gear teeth for damage or debris.
