My CA is doing a lot of missing, on one cylinder, and I have ordered gasket, head set, from YT. The gaskets showed up today, and I still have to take off the hood, and remove the head. Going to take off the head in the morning, but got to wondering,9 ( what if) one or more valves need replaced, and they are not able to find new replacements. What are my options then?? Anyone know where to get new valves?

Thanks for the WAKE UP CALL Bob! I assumed they were obsolete, and panicked, before looking! I had a faint memory, of someone ( maybe Dick L ) saying in a very old post, that some kind of chevy valve had been used. Maybe I just dreamed it! Getting old is no fun!

My advise is once you get that head off take it a good machine shop for re-building. Just my 2 cents.

Small Block Chevy valves have the same stem but to be used the seats would need to be machined to match the valves. Not having the equipment and knowing how to use it would mean a good machine is the only way to go.

Like the others said, no big deal, last winter I did case 900 LP heads for a fellow, couldn’t find valves so I installed 3/8” valve guides and used cat 3406 valves trimmed to fit, came out real nice.

Don't forget valve springs. That will make it miss. The springs on my WC were a half inch shorter than what they were supposed to be. Just old and weak. Good Luck
