I split my tractor, and replaced the 3 disc hand clutch,(last summer). I have not been successful, with getting the clutch handle, to stay locked back over center.I got help, from a fairly knowledgable, auto mechanic, and we reshimmed the discs, and are certain, that it has a true .065 gap. We turned the washer retainer, to get 3 new spots for the rollers to run on, and the handle, still wont lock back. We adjusted the outside handle linkage, and that only seems to limit the attitude of the handle position. I noticed one of the spacers, Shims, or whatever they are called, that are normaly found, under the brass shifter collar, there are 2 , has backed out and is riding in the shaft. Will the misplaced spacers cause it to fail to lock over? I sure hate to split it again, but may have to.
