Hylomar sealant

Where do I get the Hylomar sealant to use on a WC head gasket? I asked at NAPA and they had no such sealant but did have Permatex spray copper. Is the Hylomar a spray or liquid? Do you coat the head gasket with 3 coats on both sides?

Before I retired, the shop always used "HYLOMAR SEALANT" on all mating flanges that ran <130 deg F. e.g. on the Rolls / Royce Spey Turbine Compressor Cases.

If you asked a 1000 Mechanics the question you have you would probably receive 1000 different answers:

I ran a JD R for several years, several JD D's, MF Perkins, and here is a picture of a JD 70 Diesel Head. I always apply Loctite # 515 with a NON metallic applicator eg , to both sides od the head gaskets, re-torque head after engine coolant is up to operating temp.

I've been using hylomar for years. Used to be able to buy it at a couple different auto parts places.
None of them carry it anymore. I now look up hylomar in Google and order it that way. It is excellent
for head gaskets.

Didn't answer all your questions. I GET it in a tube. I do put a coat on both sides of the gasket

Like Ken L said, do a search on the Internet and buy it on-line. I used to be able to buy it at Blain's
Farm and Fleet when Permatex had an agreement to package it and sell it in the US. I asked at Napa about
it, Store Manage looked up their website, said " Looks like good stuff", never once seemed inclined to
offer to get me any. The IDIOT!.

Buy Lots, it keeps well.

The list of companies that use and recommend it is long and VERY Impressive.
