Stuck in a forward gear think 3 but it's not in 3 position. If I pull off the cover shifter goes thru what can I get to ? Will be able to see the issue. I do have the original book what shows the exploded view of those parts /shift forks and parts what's the most common thing that happens? It has been harder to drop the lever into gear have had to play with clutch and s forth to sorta grind it in at times .Hand clutch will still take it out of gear which allowed me to foot clutch and try get it unstuck but no luck. I am mechanical but need some pointers please thanks in advance

Also, new foul language will be created when attempting to remove the snap ring. Order a new one before you start.

You can get it straightened out like the other poster advised, but it won"t fix the problem. The lower end of the shifter needs to be rebuilt, and possibly the shifter forks need to be rebuilt as well.

Just remove the shift lever, it's held in with a snap ring. With the shift lever out you can look into the shift cover and will see one of the notches for the lever is out of the centered position. Line it up with a long screwdriver.
