allis chalmers d15 series 2 does rotor need to be pointing towards number 1 cylinder to correctly set ignition points

Points just need to be open to set point gap. Doesn't matter which is open.

I is easier to adjust the points with the rotor off. In theory any of the 4 lubes on the distributor shaft work for setting the points and one should even check to make sure the points open the same on all 4 if one is having an odd spark problems
