Rare to most people is something they haven't seen, no matter how many were made. To me, the rarest Allis tractor is the 10-18. I have only seen a few and they rarely come up for sale, however, I have seen fewer 18-30's and only a couple of those that actually ran.

Allis Chalmers made a model D prototype in 1943 and because of world war II it was never put into production.

I would think the 1937 model "B" with the Waukesha engine is very rare. The fuel cell tractor was prototype and was only one built. The 37 B was production and less than 100 ?? built.

The fuel cell version, I think it is currently owned by the Smithsonian.

It might be some of the orchard model tractors. I have never seen any in the orchards in this area. The model A had only 1225 tractors built.

What is the story behind the A? AC kind said the hE!! with us wheat farmers by not offering a big wheatland tractor to go head to head with the Case LAs, JD Ds, or IH W series. How come they dropped the A?

They stopped building the A because it didn't sell. Allis Chalmers missed the boat on a lot of equipment that they could been up there with all the other manufactures.
