Is this a B or C?

I'm new to the allis world. Just picked this up in a package deal with a john deere b. He says all the parts are there. Has a complete engine on a pallet that was supposed to be rebuilt. He says it's a c, but thought b's had that style front end. Maybe a mix and match tractor?

It is an early B. The front axle, rear axle and serial number all say B. The engine could be from a C but a B uses the same engine.

It is a B....... but has an aftermarket seat or maybe from a CA or WD. Rear hub center NUT, and wishbone front axle are a dead give away.

I'll add wheel guards and steering arm to the list, not C, though the wheel guards could have come off a CA too.

They are a fun tractor to restore since everything so accessible, and nothing is so cumbersome that it's a pain to disassemble.

Just noticed what type of aftermarket seat that is. It's a Monroe. Here is one someone is selling. I knew I'd seen that spring before but didn't know the brand.

The serial number is not always a dead giveaway. I have seen C's with B transmissions. The front axle, lower steering, and narrow rear axle are the differences between a B and C.
