WD 45 ignition

Hi guys, Im new on here and struggling with mt tractor. I have a 1950ish wd45 motor in a 1950ish cleat track dozer. It started running a little rough last fall plowing snow. I first thought i might have got some water in fuel so i drained tank and cleaned the carb. After doing that it still was not right so i was thinking possible ignition issues. The ignition had been changed over to 12 volt before i got it. I have had it for 10 years and has always ran good. I replaced plugs points condenser rotor and cap and coil. It started right up and runs good for short period 15-30 minutes then it starts sputtering and then dies. I check the spark at coil and seems to be shinny silver colored and not blue. If i take rotor cap off and gently scrape points with knife blade it will fire right back up for the 15-30 minutes. It is like the points are getting build up on them. I have them set at .020 The original coil i took off had been painted over so i could not tell exactly what it was, but looking on this site people are using the NAPA IC14SB so that is what i put on it. I have read on here about needing a resistor or not for that coil. I do not have a resistor in my wiring anywhere and not sure if the IC14SB has one built in or if i even need one? Hopefully you guys can give me some insight on my issue... Thank You

Put the old condenser back in and I bet your point problem will go away. As for the coil you need a coil that says right on it NO EXTERNAL RESISTER NEEDED. Now days buying a new condenser and having one that is good is a crap shoot at best. I have not replaced a condenser in years because so many are not any good.
By the way what Cletrac is it in?? I have an HG42 with and Oliver 60 engine in it

It is a HG42 as well, The problem with the old condenser is i already have thrown it away. I have another new one i will try to put in this weekend.

I did check the fuel. I thought maybe my fuel cap was not venting and not allowing fuel to carb but that all checked out good..Thanks

I did not have a socket handy to get a plug out to test spark at plug. I just checked at coil. Not the best check i know. This dozer is at my cabin and im headed back up this weekend to get a better look at it. I will take socket and check for spark at plug.

Another good reason why one should not throw parts away. I throw things like old points etc. into a ammo can or other such places so down the road if I need some odd thing I have it laying around. Have those parts have gotten me out of more then one pickle when something goes wrong and you need to one machine NOW. I bet that WD45 engine in place of the old Hercules's engine makes for a good machine. The factory engine was only around 18HP

IC14SB coil does not use an external resistor.

Direct 12 volt "no resistor required" coils such as IC14SB do not have a separate resistor in the can.

12 volt "resistor required" coils should have about 1 1/2 ohms resistance between + and - posts on the coil. "no resistor required" coil should have about 3 ohms.

The difference in resistance is controlled by the type and/or length of wire used in the primary winding, not by a separate internal resistive element in series with the coil winding.
