Bench testing 3-way switch on model c

I couldn't get lights or amp meter reading last time I ran my C. I checked the ground and it looks clean. Pulled the 3-way. Cleaned all the connections and sprayed LPS into the switch. The fuse and resister are good. I get continuity from the "B" terminal to the "S" terminal with the selector in the center ( 3 o'clock) position only. I assume I should get it when the switch is in the 5 o'clock also. Correct? Can these switches be taken apart easily or are there a lot of small parts that go flying? Also, there is a flat spring under the resistor with about a 1/8" tip that goes into the switch housing. Mine drops into the housing only when the selector is in the 1 o"clock position. I assume it breaks the circuit. Yes?
Thanks.

When the switch is in the high charge and lights on position the switch shorts out the resistor. Also the switch case must be grounded for the generator to charge. Good luck.
