I ran across a tractor that is not running but engine free...he said previous owner heard it knocking and shut it off..hasn't run since and this guy has never heard it run...doesn't know condition of transmission.. pwr steering...pwr director.. or anything....has good sheet metal ..good rubber... 3pt hitch...so my question is are the budas pricey to rebuild...are parts readily available..any inherent problems with these engines...and what would this machine be worth as it sits...lots of unknowns and I would want it to use not collect..although they aren't as high as the wd45 diesels they do seem to be getting more of a following...thanks for any input

I have a series III and it is a very nice tractor. My understanding is that the later series ones are better than the early ones. I paid I think $2500 for it running and driving. Nice original with excellent tires. I now have over $5,000 in it with hauling, radiator repair, clutch, other misc. I have listed it for sale for $5,500 and not gotten much interest. I personally wouldn't pay over parting out price. Maybe $1,000? I have lost a lot of money on fixer uppers so I don't buy them anymore.
