Picked up this little jewel locally the other day.
Most of the stuff in my collection is Oliver and Moline, so this is my first AC tractor.
Previous owner took good care of it and was an excellent mechanic. You can tell due to attention to detail.
Tractor (sn 7358) runs very well with good oil pressure and no smoke. Only complaint I have is that the differential whines enough to remove the fillings in your teeth. All fluids, including final drive, changed. Oddly enough, 4th gear is pretty quiet.
A few questions for your AC experts out there-
1. Is the hole in the distributor drive housing supposed to be plugged or left open?
2. the brake housings were full of mice nests and the bottom plugs are missing. Where does one find these?
3. 3rd gear is hard to engage. The straight shift lever just doesn't seem to locate 3rd gear very well. Perhaps the shift rails need some lube.
4. Grease zerks in the front are worn out and appear to be pressed in. How does one remove/replace them?
Here's a few pictures. Thanks for the help.
