Allis Chalmers C no oil pressure

I just freshened up my allis chalmers c with new main bearings, rod bearings, cam bearings, rings, valves and guides. It was running like a swiss watch. When I went to start it up last night to move it, it misfired and ran backwards momentarily. When I got it going I noticed right away there was no oil pressure so I shut it down. Is it possible that when it ran backwards the oil pump lost prime? or could the little drive pin have sheared? Its just strange that it went from having good oil pressure to none. I know I got some timing issues to clear up but I would like some advice on the oil pressure problem first, any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

Prime the pump. The way I prime those vane type pumps is to remove the filter, place a rubber gas line hose over the stand pipe, fill the hose with motor oil and let it seep down for a couple minutes, refill with oil and start the engine with the hose end in a can or over the rocker arms if the cover is off. When a fair amount of oil comes out the hose shut the engine off and replace the filter. You can just fill the stand pipe and do the same but using a hose makes a lot smaller mess.

Try priming it first. Disconnect the oil line at the T where it comes out of the bell housing use a squirt oil can with motor oil in it and pump it as full as you can quickly put the oil line back on and start it you should get oil pressure quickly. It is possable that you broke the cross pin in the cam that drives the oil pump. I have broken one but priming the pump a couple times takes about 5 minutes. To get to the oil pump to even check the cross pin requires splitting the tractor and if you have to replace it your just about a complete tear down .
