D14, D15, D17, D19 PTO O-ring Shifter

Many of us with D series tractors have lived with bad o-rings on the PTO Shifter shaft. The manual says to split the tractor so it's hardly worth the effort to replace it if the oil leak is minimal. Mine was pretty bad and since I'm restoring it right now, I didn't want to have any cases leaking on my new paint.

I made up a blog on how to refresh it without splitting the tractor, just so others in the future wouldn't have to do the footwork to find the tool and procedure when their's starts leaking.

I'm documenting it in a post so people searching can find the procedure.

I was so pleased to avoid the split for what is really a very small operation and that it came out well. You are welcome and I'd encourage others to write up a journal when they find tricks that work and save time.

I am going to use a wireless endoscopic camera in the future so I can get better pictures. It also seems like an quick way to research the inside of the case, gear sets, seals etc without tearing things apart. They are almost as cheap as a telescopic mirror now, but give you an LED light on whatever you are looking at.

I'm thinking after studying the manuals, this may apply to the AC 170 and 175 also.

Technically, it also applies to 170-175-180-185-190-190XT-200. The larger models may or may not have it, but some still do, when not equipped with PTO hyd clutch..
