Need bracket to convert a D17 to an alternator

I think I've spent over two years fighting with the generator on my D17. It's gotta go! I checked the generator and it "motors" if connected to the battery, so I know it's ok. I checked all wiring and cleaned the terminals on the voltage regulator. The last time I cleaned those terminals, the tractor started charging, but that did not last long. Personally, I hate generators. Before I spend the money to buy another voltage regulator, I'll spend that money to buy brackets for a GM generator, and I have several of them laying around.

I have already converted this tractor to 12volt Negative ground.

Does anyone sell a ready to go kit to mount an alternator on this tractor. I DO NOT want a universal kit, it's too hard to line up the belt. I am looking for a bracket(s) MADE FOR A D17. Does anyone sell one? I saw that Steiner Tractor has such a kit for other Allis tractors, but the D17 is not listed. (Alternator Bracket Kit - ACS2347).

One other thing, i have read on some forums that to make this conversion, a person has to cut away part of the engine mounting bracket. THAT IS NOT GONNA HAPPEN! If the onkly way to convert it is to cut this engine mount, I will continue to fight with the generator, since I refuse to damage the original tractor.

This is a D17 Series 1.

I dont need a kit WITH an alternator, coil, or anything else, just a complete, ready to use, bracket kit.

Can anyone provide a weblink or phone number for such a thing?

Thanks

With out going out to look I cannot be sure but if I remember right I just flipped the generator bracket and then used a long bolt to mount the Delco 10SI alternator in my D-17

I don't know that there is a bracket kit available for the D17. You can get a universal bracket. I make my own with just flat stock. 3/16 up to 1/4 think and about one inch to one and a quarter wide.

Lower brackets from a One-Seventy gas work just fine. If there is a power steering pump above it, leave off the alt cooling fan (not needed anyway) and notch the upper belt tension bracket to clear the PS pump.
