w d or allis chalmers hydraulics

w d allis chalmers is new to me. hydraulics work in a narrow range, by pulling the lever. raise the lift and lower the lift, lever only goes 1/2 inch or so. frustating for me. is this typical, or do i need to do some work?

uh, if i move the lever 1/2 inch or so, the equipment drops and raises. seems to lower, too quick

There is a diagram on the right side of the battery box which explains how to set the hyd system for various results, depending on your desired usage. If that diagram is gone, you can find the same one in the operator manual. Can also find it on the net by googling it- Allis Chalmers WD45 hydraulic system.

When you get used to the "Feel" of the lever movement, you will get along fine..

You can get a "slow rise" or a slow drop", depending on how you move the lever..
