Sherman two speed

I have a 46 WC with the Sherman two speed step up. Was wondering if anyone on here had by experience with them. Also if you have ever rebuilt one. Thanks

To tell the truth you have an over drive or under drive set up. One gear will be the standard gears the tractor came with and the other will be either an over drive or under drive. Pretty common on the Ford but less so on the A/C

Actually the ones I've seen on the WC tractors do away with the original speeds, there are two sets of gears in them that have the same size gears just on opposite shafts so the
high range is faster than original and the low range is slower than original.

I believe there were two brands available....Sherman and Heisler. Both were available as DIRECT/UNDER or DIRECT/OVER drives for a total of 8 speeds. The original 4-speeds were always the same and you then had 4 more speeds either faster or slower than DIRECT. The under-drive versions were generally used on tractors with mounted corn pickers for a slower low gear.

The two WC ones I have been into had two shafts with something like a 9 tooth gear on one end and 14 tooth gear on the opposite the same gears on each different shafts but on opposite ends so they meshed
when it was shifted and a neutral in the middle. But with that set up I can't see how the original speeds could be had as to obtain the original speeds two of the meshing
gears would have to had the same number of teeth.I was into to both boxes so I actually eye balled the set up.
