Wet Sleeves - how do i get them out and back in?

I have been on here so many times about my C engine that I am embarrassed.
I am getting water in my oil . even though the engine runs perfect now .. after cleaning everything and putting it back together .

I did not realize at first it had wet sleeves .. never heard of them .. and also .. I pounded the sleeves that came up with the cylinder .. hope I didn't destroy something .

here are a couple of videos .. I got the head back on and it runs GREAT but leaks water in the crankcase oil ...
did I ruin the sleeves rubber rings? or maybe the head gasket is not sealed . not sure what I should do next .

I am assuming I have to pull the pistons out if I replace the o rings in the sleeves - correct?

Thanks a lot .

First pull base pan and valve cover must find the leak. Example 3 cylinder bottom next you may have to pull plugs and put air pressure to it to find gasket leak.

Drop the pan and pull the valve cover. You can see the leak easier. You may have to pressurize the radiator. They make special pumps for that. The piston would have to come out to remove the sleeve and you would need new o rings for the base. Use vegetable oil on the o rings when you put it back in.

I am sorry .. I don't understand this "Example 3 cylinder bottom next you may have to pull plugs and put air pressure to it to find gasket leak."

Would'n't pressurizing the radiator do the trick?

Your problem could be a number of things.
#1 a blown head gasket
#2 a cracked head
#3 a sleeve seal
I would drain the oil and then pull the pan. Lay a piece of cardboard under it and let it sit. Look for coolant drop on the cardboard.
If it is a sleeve one doe not have to pull the piton out of the sleeve but doing so makes it easier to do the work. To pop a sleeve out one can take a oak board or other such thing and use a jack to pop them out

basically THE 3 cylinder was meant to be bottom. Meaning the issue was in number 3 piston/sleeve and at the bottom ie a sealing ring. You can pressure the cylinders or radiator to find a leak, crack bad valve, bad piston etc. Takes some time, Example if you make an adaptor and put in #2 plug hole and put air to it (with valves closed) and radiator bubbles that's where the issue is be it a crack or bad gasket.

Ive done it a number of times. If it is a the sleeve seals be sure to get the block real clean before putting in new sleeve seals and lube them up real good with dish soap

When an old sleeve comes up like yours did they will never reseal when pushed back down.

Some pictures of how did things when I was able.

Picture number thirty on the second page is of what is in involved when I would remove sleeves.
If you go to the top of the page you can click on public home and scroll down to engine building and find stuff there also.

FORGET the soap and use plenty Permatex Non-Hardening sealer on the "O"-Rings and block area..

While you are at it, lay a good heavy coat on the entire bottom of the water jacket to prevent any future leaks from a web cracking, etc..

This is the method to remove a sleeve.

This is the tool.

Installation can be done with a press, or some use a block of wood on the new sleeve and a mallet. Make sure it is perfectly straight in the block bore before pounding.

Thanks so much ..
I Have not had time this summer to do much yet ..
But late fall is coming - and winter .. then I will tie into it !!
