I picked up a WC this morning for parts and through conversation with the seller, he said he had a belly mounted mower if I might be interested and I could look at it before I left. I'm interested so I followed him into the barn. It's a Dearborn Model: 14-4. He said he bought it at an estate auction of a retired tractor dealership mechanic (brand unknown). Story was that the owner had it on a WD45, took it off to restore the tractor and fix up the mower. Tractor got restored, mower got cleaned up and painted but the owner passed before he got it back on the tractor. It was in a pile on a pallet, so I couldn't see a whole lot, however I did get pictures of the tag.
My question is: would this fit a WC? If so, would this have been an original option or any guesses if someone would have taken a Dearborn mower and modified it to fit an Allis? I know Dearborn worked a lot with Ford but haven't heard of any work with A/C. I'm still new to Allis' but it's my understanding that the WD's (maybe WD45) were more or less the same frame as the WC? In a previous post I believe AaronSEIA mentioned that I would need a WC mower?
If it would not fit, does anyone know what make and model tractor it would go on?
