Steering Worm Shaft Bearing for B model?

Hi All,

I am hoping someone can tell me what bearing I need for the end of the steering worm shaft in a Ross Gear box. I called Yesterday's Tractors already and they do not stock it.

My tractor decided to stop turning right all of a sudden and when I got the steering box apart I found ball bearings jamming the worm gear. The cage for the bearing at the bottom has disintegrated despite the considerable amount of grease inside.

Any idea what the specs on the bearing are? Or better yet where to buy one?

BTW - I am a competent parts changer but do not have the capacity to do any machining etc...and the grass will be knee high by next week so I need to get the tractor up and running soon!

Thanks and apologies in advance if this has already been answered. I tried searching the forum but could not find the answer.

The steering box takes 20 5/16" steel balls, 10 above and 10 below the worm. There are 2 identical bearing ball cups (AC part #210467) that hold the balls in place. The balls should be standard hardware items, AC # is 915904. If you go looking at salvage tractors for steering parts, avoid parts from a C because the parts are all different except for the balls.

Hi Jerry,
thank you for the info. I think I have tracked down what I need.
hopefully I will have her up and mowing soon!

thanks
Clifford
