Allis B Clunk

I have a "39 B and when I shift from forward to reverse, or the opposite, I get a pause and loud clunk before anything engages. Seems to be in differential, any idea of what I'm in for?

Up til you do some trouble shoot hard to say. Could be a problem in the rear end or the bull gear area etc. I would jack up one tire then put it in gear not running and try turning that tire forward and back while listening to it and feeling how it flees. By doing that you may find where the noise is coming form and also you may find a lot of play in one side or the other and the side with the play will be the side with the problem

Yep that too. Seen a good number of them fall off and most of the time when they do your in the worse place you can be

A gear with broken tooth will do that. A bearing out will as well. Bearing again causing pinion bull gear etc to have play in it.
