On an Allis C engine - where the pushrods set are holes on each side oil drains. Am hoping I get the pushrods in correctly!! Any hints. It runs great but had a valve stick. Any comments? :). Thx

I certainly DID NOT make my question CLEAR at all . ha! I apologize ..

I got the C to fire on all cylinders and it sounds pretty solid .. of course there is some missing with TWO pushrods .
What I am asking is . How do I know that the pushrod is positioned correctly? (I am assuming if it goes up and down . with a little slack in it ) .. I have gotten the valve LOOSED up AGAIN .. and going to try it this time .. with the tappet cover off . :) ...
My intention is to simple push the valve spring down to get the pushrod in and then tightened to fit - meaning .. with the tolerance adjustment ..
Make sense? I am concerned about the pushrod position .. there doesn't seem to be much room for the pushrod to "set" on the cam .. etc .
thanks much
Gary

The push rod sets in a lifter not on a camshaft lobe. The lifter has a socket for it to set into. The lash or gap between the valve end and the rocker arm pad by the book is .010. I set them at .012 using a .012 feeler gage with enough drag that I can both push and pull the feeler gage. I set one cylinder at a time with the piston at top dead center on the compression stroke where both the intake and exhaust valves are closed where both rockers are at there highest over the valve end. I then go back over each cylinder and check to make sure they are set properly. If it is after using a new head gasket I warm up the engine and re torque the head and then re set the valve lash.
