Allis Chalmers C Not Starting

I overhauled (with help) my 1942 Allis Chalmers C. I started it last fall and than did not try again until today. It will not try to turn over. It has been sitting inside all the time. It got late but tomorrow i will check and see if corrosion on wiring to starter or some other started problem. I do not hear a click or anthting. However, will a newly overhauled engine stick if not started for several months?

First thing to check is the battery.. Is it charged ? Do the lights work ? What kind of solenoid do you have or are you taking about the switch on the starter ? Check battery terminals, and starter terminal AFTER verifying battery is good.

Yes fresh overhaul is noted for sticking. But you should ha e all kinds of commotion on the starter.

Also check to make sure you have a good clean surface where the starter slides into the bellhousing. Good ground is critical for the starter to work at all.

Battery is good. Got a spark initially from the starter and then nothing. No commotion from the starter. I jacked up the tractor rear end and turned the wheels with the tractor in gear. Dumb question but does that mean the engine is turning over?

Could be the problem but it has been started twice since I installed the starter. However, over the winter it is possible that some connection got corroded.
Thanks

Got initial a spark from the starter when I touched a screw driver to the starter button and then nothing. No commotion from the starter. Thanks

Could not turn over tractor with crank but I jacked up the rear end and moved the tires with tractor in third. thanks

My 1946 C had sat for a couple years with out being started and it is inside also and it had locked up from sitting. If I where you I would put about a 1/4 cup of ATF in each cylinder and wait 24 hour but while waiting you can pull he starter and check it out etc. Also would be a good idea to clean the points in the distributor since they are very likely to be corroded from sitting

Probably stuck. I put some ATF in it today. I took the starter out to test it. I was going to drop by the local electrical shop I deal with but they were closed today. I will try Wednesday. Cannot turn it with the crank.

If you have one you can try a pry bar in the flywheel teeth. If you do that try from the top down so as to turn it backward of what the start does

Engine is not stuck. I took the starter to a local repair shop and it is good. I posted a new message just now. Battery connections good. Battery charged up. I seem to be getting electricity to starter post but nothing when I try to start it...that is when I push in the starter switch at the starter? Any thoughts as to what I should try next?
