200 allis questions

Hi. Does a 200 allis chalmers have a live pto if you step on the clutch or is it like a 190? Are they dependable? What are their flaws. Thanks.

Same as the 190 with the foot clutch stopping the PTO. You an turn the PTO on and off while moving. You just have to use the Hi-Lo to stop the tractor moving when wanting the PTO to be turning.

i have a 200 with power director. PROS = good motor, hydraulics, brakes, 2 spd pto, smooth ps, good traction, no free wheel, nice cab CONS = no diff lock, pop out
tranny which is time consuming to fix, no parking gear. great for round baling but i dom=nt have to back up to unload. terrible for haybine

They are great tractors most do have the hydraulic pto engagement, but the pto stops when you step in the main engine clutch; but with a well adjusted Powerdirector its no big deal, if you have to back up just swap transmission gears and use the PD,only bad thing ive seen is the engine sleeves develop electrolicess faster than other AC engines, seems to be just in the 200 run,

I am typically a tractor fan of another color, but I do have a great respect for a 200 Allis simply because I ran one for a neighbor in the fall for a few years. It was his big tractor at the time. I pulled his 4 bottom plow with that tractor and it was very stingy on fuel. I thought the tractor, for the time it was built, was a good and competitive tractor at the time.
